Duke Energy Goes Green?

Duke Energy recently announced that its green energy pilot program was approved, that they would soon allow their subscribers to invest in renewable energies, such as solar, wind, biomass and hydro.

The program would cost the consumer an extra 2.5 cents per kilowatt hour. The average home would see anywhere from a $5 to $10 increase per month.

The issue has already been featured on WCPO TV's "Don't Waste Your Money," with John Matarese.

Way to invest in the future, John.

    I'm shocked!

I thought Duke was pretty environmentally unfriendly.

I don't think Duke's move comes out of environmental consciousness - it's more like cigarette companies marketing nicotine patches. $$$

I wonder if John Matarese considers hybrid cars a waste of money, seeing as they cost in upwards of double the average car.

Sometimes you have to pay more money to generate investment in non-renewable resources.

You're probably right about Duke. I remember when they first took over Cinergy, I went to their website to see if they had anything about the environment on it - I wanted to get a feel for them. All they had was this one page with a definition of sustainability and a picture of a little girl on a swing.
